FARGO (KFGO) – A former member of the Fargo School Board says she wants to represent Fargo residents at the state level.
Jennifer Benson announced her candidacy for the North Dakota House of Representatives in District 41.
“I am running for the North Dakota House because I care deeply about responsible governance and policies that serve North Dakota families,” Benson said. “The oath of office has always guided my decision-making—not as a formality, but as a responsibility to serve with integrity and accountability. With experience in education, governance, and the private sector, I understand the importance of making thoughtful, evidence-based decisions that strengthen our state.”
Benson was on the Fargo Board of Education for eight years, where she worked on budgeting, transparency, and accountability while addressing issues impacting students, families, and taxpayers.
She currently serves as Second Vice Chair of the North Dakota Republican Party, a role she was first elected to in 2023.
Benson also has more than 20 years of private-sector experience in the pharmaceutical industry and currently serves as executive director of a North Dakota-based public policy organization.
Drawing on her background in healthcare, education, and policy leadership, Benson said she brings a collaborative, solutions-oriented approach to public service.
Benson says her priorities reflect the concerns she hears most often from Fargo and District 41 residents: Continued property tax relief and affordability, workforce challenges, protecting individual liberty, and strengthening education.
“Our community works best when government is thoughtful, transparent, and accountable to the people it serves,” Benson said. “I will work to protect liberty, personal responsibility, support opportunity, and ensure government stays within its proper constitutional role.”
She emphasized responsible budgeting, respect for taxpayers, and policies that support both families and employers while maintaining a strong quality of life.
