FARGO (KFGO) – The Fargo Fire Department says an apartment complex has extensive damage after a fire in late October.
Firefighters responded to 1521 27th Ave. S. just before 2:15 a.m. on Oct. 30. Investigators have determined the fire started in the living room area of a second-floor apartment. Damage is estimated to exceed $500,000. However, the cause remains undetermined.
When fire crews arrived, they say fire was spreading on the outside of the building up to the third floor and into the attic.
The 24-unit apartment building was evacuated. One person was rescued from the third floor, but no one was hurt. One cat in a second-floor unit did not survive.
A second alarm was called to bring in additional fire crews. The fire was extinguished a little more than an hour after the first crew arrived.
