GRAND FORKS, N.D. (KFGO) – A Grand Forks man was arrested and faces several charges after chasing another man around a bar with a knife.
The Grand Forks Police Department was called to Denny’s Tavern on South Washington Street just after midnight on Nov. 16.
The victim told officers that he and Jerome Kadlec are co-workers. He says Kadlec revealed a knife and threatened to kill him. The victim said Kadlec raised the knife over his head and began to chase him.
The man ran inside the bar and says he shoved and punched Kadlec. He told officers he thought he would be stabbed by Kadlec if he didn’t defend himself.
Officers found Kadlec slumped over the steering wheel of a vehicle. They say a bottle of beer was in the cupholder and a case of beer was on the front passenger side floorboard.
Responding officers say Kadlec had bloodshot eyes, slurred speech, swayed balance and a breathalyzer revealed a blood alcohol level of .172.
He is charged in Grand Forks County Court with attempt to commit aggravated assault, terrorizing, possession of meth and drug paraphernalia, simple assault and actual physical control, which is a DUI-related charge.
