FARGO (KFGO/KVRR) — Hospice of the Red River Valley has undergone a rebrand.
The organization will now be called HIA Hospice, which stands for “Hearts In Action.” The nonprofit, which has served parts of North Dakota and Minnesota for over 44 years, says the new name reflects the growth and expansion of care services it offers.
HIA Hospice has a new location on 56th Avenue South in Fargo and is also adding “Heather’s House.” It is the first freestanding, inpatient hospice house in North Dakota, providing a short-term space for families.
“Because people need a break,” HIA Hospice Executive Director Tracee Capron says. “It’s hard caring for your loved one, and it’s okay to need a break and to be family and have expert health care providers there to assist you on that journey.”
The nonprofit hopes to open up its new space to the public in the coming days.
