Cass County election officials describe reasons for election return wait

FARGO, N.D. (KFGO) – If you were waiting up late for Cass County election results, officials say it came down to sheer volume.

County Finance Director Sarah Heinle said there were no major equipment failures or counting delays. Instead, workers spent the night continuously processing ballots on a vault computer and uploading them to the state as fast as the system allowed.

Heinle said space limits prevented adding more workers at busy sites like the Ramada, but officials will review that before 2028.
