FARGO (KFGO) – Seasonal parking restrictions take effect across Fargo on Sunday, and will remain in place through April 15, 2027.
The annual rules limit parking to one side of the street on designated roadways. City officials say the restrictions allow street crews to clear snow efficiently, perform maintenance, and ensure fire trucks and ambulances can navigate residential streets safely throughout the winter.
The restrictions apply to the area between 12th Avenue North and Interstate 94, stretching from the Red River to 25th Street North and South. The Madison neighborhood is also covered under the rules. Signs are posted along affected routes to show drivers which side of the street allows parking.
City officials also remind drivers of an enforcement change that took effect last year. Seasonal overnight parking bans from 1 a.m. to 7 a.m. are no longer enforced between 19th Avenue North and 13th Avenue South, from the Red River to 25th Street. City staff determined that limiting parking to one side of the road provides enough space for snow removal and emergency response. However, separate year-round parking rules in downtown Fargo remain in effect.
Residents and visitors should check posted signs carefully before parking on city streets. The Fargo Police Department and Public Works Department will actively enforce the seasonal rules, especially during winter snow events. Vehicles parked in violation of the signs may receive a ticket or be towed.
