Oct 20 (Reuters) – Hilton Worldwide plans to transfer its stock listing from the NYSE to Nasdaq, the hotel operator said on Tuesday, as companies increasingly view the tech-heavy exchange as a way to boost visibility among growth-focused investors.
Hilton became the first hotel company to be listed on the New York Stock Exchange in 1946. The company returned to public markets in 2013 after spending six years as a private company under Blackstone’s ownership.
Hilton CEO Chris Nassetta said Nasdaq’s standing as a home to many of the world’s leading technology and innovation-focused companies aligns with Hilton’s growth ambitions and long-term strategy.
The company recently appointed Jeff Moore as chief technology officer, a move it said would support its technology and innovation efforts.
Hilton shares are set to begin trading on Nasdaq under the HLT ticker on November 5.
Rival Marriott International moved its stock listing from the New York Stock Exchange to Nasdaq in 2013.
