BISMARCK, N.D. — The North Dakota Highway Patrol is considering supporting a bill that would change their name to the North Dakota State Patrol.
“Our executive leadership team is currently discussing the possibility of formally transitioning to the North Dakota State Patrol name to better reflect the full scope of our responsibilities and provide consistency in our agency’s branding,” Highway Patrol officials said.
NDHP stresses that no final decision has been made. It has been using both names interchangeably for over 50 years and they respond to calls on and off the highway.
North Dakota Century Code refers to the agency as State Highway Patrol or just Highway Patrol.
