Lt. Col. Aaron Krenzz (Ret.) speaking at a Veterans Day event at the Fargo Air Museum on November 11, 2025.
Lt. Col. Aaron Krenzz (Ret.) was the featured speaker, sharing stories about his time serving as a young Captain during Operation Iraqi Freedom.
“Understanding the why behind what we do gives us purpose and purpose drives survival and resilience,” Lt. Col. Krenzz said.” I am proud to have served alongside those brave soldiers during that tour and throughout my years in uniform.”
Krenzz took the opportunity to give a special tribute to Vietnam Veterans, saying they answered the call during one of the most complex and challenging chapters in our history.
“You served in jungles and skies, in ships and hospitals, often under conditions that tested the limits of endurance,” Krenzz commended. “When you returned home, many of you did not receive the welcome or recognition you deserved. But you stood tall, you struggled and overcame, you found your purpose, your why, and you continue to serve your families, your communities, your fellow veterans. Today, we say what should have been said long ago. Welcome home, thank you, we honor you.”
Krenzz also thanked the families of veterans and active military members.
“Behind every veteran is a family that served too. Spouses, children, parents and loved ones. Your sacrifices are woven into the fabric of our military story. You endured long deployments, missed holidays, sleepless nights and the uncertainty that comes with loving someone in uniform. You held the home front together often without recognition and continued to be the backbone of our community.”
The keynote address concluded with a message for the next generation of military members, and a call to action for veterans who have hung up the uniform.
“To our younger service members, look to the veterans around you as I should have. They’re living examples of resilience, leadership and integrity. And to those of us who’ve earned the title of Veteran, your continued service matters whether you are volunteering, advocating or simply being present for someone in need. You are still serving and we are all better for it.”
The ceremony included a POW/MIA Missing Man Service led by Ed “Doc” Ahonen, music by the Red River Valley Concert Band, Honor Guard Fire Volley and the playing of Taps by the Fargo VFW.
