HORACE, N.D. (KFGO/KVRR) – A packed room of Horace homeowners shared their confusion and distress over the city’s special assessments Wednesday night.
It comes after a group of homeowners sued the city in April, claiming the city is violating state law with extraordinarily high special assessments that could cause them to lose their homes. Some people have lost their homes since.
Many homeowners on either side of a proposed street say they would be paying more than the other side and believe the amount should be divided equally.
Others asked why they had to pay extra for a road they would not use.
There will be another meeting Thursday starting at 5:30 p.m.
