DRAPER, S.D. (KFGO) – A volunteer firefighter with the Murdo, South Dakota Fire Department died last weekend while en route to a large grass fire.
The Highway Patrol says Nicholas Van Dam was driving a fire-tender truck when he left a road. The truck rolled and Van Dam was ejected.
Van Dam was a Captain with the fire department. He died at the scene north of Draper.
The crash happened Saturday evening. Draper is in south-central South Dakota.
