FARGO, N.D. (KFGO) — The 49th Annual Downtown Fargo Street Fair saw its largest crowds in years last week as estimated attendance climbed by more than 10 percent over 2024, according to new data from the Downtown Community Partnership. The three-day event held July 17–19 welcomed over 100,000 visitors. The fair created significant increases in foot traffic, business activity, and community engagement.
The Partnership reported that visits were up 8.3 percent on Thursday, 5.2 percent on Friday, and 16.3 percent on Saturday. Vendors and downtown retailers reported running out of product before the fair’s end.
“This event is a true testament to the vibrancy of Downtown Fargo and the spirit of our community,” said Rocky Schneider, Executive Director of the Downtown Community Partnership. “The Street Fair is only possible through the commitment of our partners, especially the Fargo Police Department, city staff, downtown businesses, and our vendors. Together, we are showing the region that Downtown Fargo is still the vibrant cultural and economic hub of the region.”
A key focus of this year’s fair was partnering with local retailers and restaurants to help them leverage the increased traffic through sidewalk sales, special promotions, and by placing booths on the street. Many businesses reported significant increases in sales this year.
“This was the best street fair we’ve ever had. The new food court layout on 2nd Avenue gave the event a real sense of place and community. Our team saw non-stop traffic, and customers loved the variety of vendors. The Fargo Police presence made a positive impression and people really enjoyed seeing the officers out on their trikes.” Michelle Pulling, owner of Silver Lining Creamery said.
“It was a great street fair this year. We had a lot of foot traffic and increased orders from last year. It was so wonderful to see our local community come out to support small businesses,” said Christy Inion, Assistant Store Manager of Vella Kids Boutique, who operated both a Broadway storefront and a booth. “It was also great to connect with other local businesses. Vella Kids Boutique is blessed to be in an amazing community.”
