BIG LAKE, Minn. – Bacterial meningitis has been identified as the cause of death for a 6-month-old boy found in “unlivable” conditions in Big Lake last Friday.
The Sherburne County Sheriff’s Office says preliminary autopsy results have confirmed Gideon Mwangi died from the deadly infection after being found unresponsive and not breathing at a home.
Police say the home was extremely dirty and cluttered when officers arrived, and black mold was found in numerous locations throughout the house and deemed unlivable by health officials.
No arrests have been made in Mwangi’s death.
