
FRAZEE, Minn. (KFGO/KVRR) – Authorities say that on July 9, at about 5:30 in the evening, they responded to a domestic assault call in the 20000 block of Becker County Highway 21.
The person who placed the emergency call said an adult male had entered a residence, physically assaulted someone, and stole a firearm.
Deputies from the Becker County Sheriff’s office located the suspect. now identified as 36-year-old Todd Ole Burris of Bemidji, in Detroit Lakes.
Burris then fled in his vehicle, with responders from Becker County, the Detroit Lakes Police Department, Otter Tail County, and the Minnesota State Patrol in pursuit.
Burris eventually pulled into the rest stop, which is roughly 10 miles outside Detroit Lakes.
That’s where the shooting occurred.
Burris was taken to Essentia Health in Detroit Lakes and later transferred to Essentia in Fargo. Authorities say his condition is stable, and he will be booked into the Otter Tail County Jail on suspicion of aggravated assault once he’s healthy enough to leave the hospital.
Body camera footage will likely be instrumental in assessing culpability during this investigation.
