The Red River Valley Fair continues this week. Cass County Sheriff Jesse Jahner says the sheriff’s office goal is to make the fair a safe and welcoming environment.
“We want people to come out with their families and have fun and not have to worry about that safety piece.” Jahner said. “And if you do see our deputies out on the grounds, go up and talk with them, visit with them. That’s the other reason we’re out here is to really foster and build relationships with our community and be welcoming.”
Jahner estimates 15,000 to 25,000 people visit the fairgrounds at peak times. He says his deputies are prepared for anything including severe weather, extreme heat and any type of violent attack.
The Red River Valley Fair opened July 4 and continues through Sunday. Popular acts performing at the fair this week include Kane Brown, The All American Rejects and Boyz II Men.
