ABERDEEN, S.D. (KFGO) – A federal jury has convicted Gokoh Brown, 29, from Watertown, South Dakota, of one count of aggravated sexual abuse by force and one count of sexual abuse of a minor following a two-day jury trial in federal district court in Aberdeen.
The convictions carry a maximum penalty of life in federal prison and/or a $250,000 fine, and up to a lifetime term of supervised release.
Brown was indicted by a federal grand jury in August 2024. From January 2023 to August 2023, the U.S. Attorney’s Office says Brown sexually assaulted a 12–13-year-old girl while living in Red Iron Housing on the Lake Traverse Reservation. Brown was 26-27 years old at the time.
The case was investigated by the FBI, Sisseton-Wahpeton Oyate Law Enforcement, and the South Dakota DCI.
A presentence investigation was ordered, and a sentencing date has been set for August 18. Brown was remanded to the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service.
