ALEXANDRIA, Minn. (KFGO/KVRR) — Two people are hospitalized in a burn unit in the Twin Cities after a house fire south of Alexandria.
Douglas County emergency responders were called to the fire around 11:30 a.m. Saturday near Lake Mary and were told a woman was still in the home.
Firefighters arrived to find the house fully engulfed, and a man covered in black soot after he rushed inside to save the woman.
The man and woman were taken to the hospital in Alexandria for treatment of burns and smoke inhalation before being moved by helicopter to Hennepin County Medical Center.
The house is considered a total loss.
The State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of the fire.
