PEORIA Ill. – The city of Peoria has announced a combined sewer overflow alert for Tuesday, due to the high amounts of rainfall locally.
According to Peoria Public Works, rainfall is causing several sewers to overflow into the Illinois River.
When this happens, it is advised to avoid full-body contact with the Illinois River in the area downstream from Detweiller Marina.
You may get sick if you swallow water while swimming, Jet Skiing, or water skiing in these areas.
