GRAND FORKS, N.D. (KFGO) — One man is dead from apparent suicide after a police chase in Grand Forks County.
A North Dakota Highway Patrol trooper stopped an erratic driver on I-29 south of Grand Forks around 5:30 p.m. Friday evening. The Highway Patrol says the driver refused to exit the vehicle, and fled. The chase ended after about a mile when the car got stuck in the median.
Officers found the driver dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. I-29 was closed at 6 p.m. and one lane reopened about 20 minutes later.
Grand Forks Police and the Grand Forks County Sheriff’s Office also responded. The North Dakota BCI is assisting with the investigation.
