WATFORD CITY, N.D. (KFGO) – A highway in northwest North Dakota is closed after a tank battery explosion. The North Dakota Highway patrol has shut down highway 23 in Mckenzie County at Johnson’s Corner to mile marker 13.
Emergency responders on scene say the explosion is currently contained to one tank, but there is an ongoing risk of additional explosions involving the remaining four tanks.
The public is urged to avoid this area and detours are in place. Anyone driving in that area should expect delays and follow directions from emergency personnel.
