FERGUS FALLS, Minn. (KFGO/KBRF) – The Fergus Falls Fire Department responded to a house fire early Monday morning. Fire Chief Ryan Muchow says fire crews arrived to the house just before 3:15 a.m. and found smoke coming from two sides of the house and flames could be seen through the front window. The home’s only occupant was outside when crews arrived.
Muchow says the fire was quickly under control. Crews conducted a search, ventilated the smoke, and extinguished remaining hot spots. The fire department was on scene for an hour and a half. Muchow says that the cause of the fire is undetermined after initial investigation, it does not appear suspicious and no one was injured. It is estimated the fire caused $20,000 in damage.
Muchow reminds residents to keep at least a 3’ clear space around heating appliances and plug accessory heaters directly into outlets. He also stresses the importance of working smoke alarms.
