FARGO (KFGO/KVRR) – An expansion project is under way at the Islamic Society of Fargo-Moorhead in south Fargo.
The expansion, which adds a spire to the mosque, will also feature a play area. The architecture is more stylized than the original building, trading steel siding for a stucco look.
Construction costs for the expansion is around $500,000, but donations are still needed.
“We wanted to create a youth center that could be where kids can go and gather and play and, like we said, you can’t use a basketball in these spaces, you can’t use a soccer ball. So, to be able to play and have these community gatherings in a space that makes sense for it is really important,” said Heidi Soliman representing the Islamic Society of Fargo-Moorhead.
Construction is expected to be finished by the spring.
