FARGO (KFGO) – I-29 has been reopened, and ‘No Travel’ advisories have been lifted across the region.
Travel was difficult for most of Tuesday with sections of both I-29 and I-94 closed for parts of the day.
The North Dakota Department of Transportation and Highway Patrol issued ‘No Travel’ advisories for the southeastern corner of the state after multiple vehicles went off roads and semis jackknifed. That eventually lead to closures on I-94 and I-29 in the afternoon before some portions opened up Tuesday night. The remainder of the closed highways reopened Wednesday around 7 a.m.
In west-central Minnesota, State Patrol Sergeant Jesse Grabow reported several vehicles off the highways, especially on I-94 between Moorhead and Alexandria. There were also two pile-ups involving multiple semis and other vehicles.
Grabow says many drivers were not were not taking conditions into account and going too fast.
