ST. PAUL, Minn. – A Mounds View High School teacher is on administrative leave for having an alleged inappropriate relationship with a student.
Prosecutors have charged Ted Bennett, 58, with third-and fourth-degree criminal sexual assault. Police says Bennett sexually assaulted the 16-year-old student and gave her alcohol and drugs. They say the victim’s father found evidence of the relationship on her phone.
Ramsey County Attorney John Choi said, “schools must be a safe place for students, and we will not tolerate abuse of power or sexual exploitation of our youth.”
Bennett has been a teacher in Mounds View for 27 years.
