BAGLEY, Minn. (KFGO) – A man is dead after a police pursuit and shooting in Bagley in northwestern Minnesota. Clearwater County Sheriff Darin Halverson says just before 12:15 Thursday afternoon, a deputy saw a man at the gas pumps at a Cenex convenience store who had a felony warrant for his arrest.
Halverson says a scuffle took place and the man fled in his vehicle. He headed east on highway two with other deputies and Bagley Police in pursuit. He drove two yards before law enforcement was able to stop the car.
Halverson says the man fired a flare-type projectile at the officers. A deputy then shot the man who died at the scene despite life-saving attempts by Bagley Sanford Ambulance. One deputy suffered a minor injury. The State Bureau of Criminal Apprehension will handle the investigation.
