FORT TOTTEN, N.D. (KVRR) — The search for Danica “Tynee” White on Spirit Lake Reservation is over after family members and tribal leaders say the 20-year-old’s body was found.
Spirit Lake Tribe says White’s body was found and recovered from the water shortly before 3 p.m. Thursday following an extensive search.
There is no indication of a crime.
“Our hearts are heavy with this news,” Chairwoman Lonna Jackson-Street said. “Danica was a vibrant young woman with her whole life ahead of her.”
Family members are thanking all of those who took part in searches since she was reported missing on Saturday in Fort Totten. They are also asking for thoughts, prayers, and privacy.
A Native American ceremony honoring White was planned for Thursday night in Fort Totten.
White was reported missing on Nov. 1 after calling 911 around 6 a.m. saying she needed help.
The search involved 22 federal, state and tribal agencies and approximately 15,000 acres were covered.
