BISMARCK, N.D. (KFGO) – Governor Kelly Armstrong is set to announce state action in response to concerns about access to food from the Supplemental Nutrition and Assistance Program.
The governor will hold a news conference Thursday afternoon at the Capitol.
Armstrong’s office says he will be joined by Interim Health and Human Services Commissioner Pat Traynor, Great Plains Food Bank Interim CEO Kate Molbert and State Health Officer Sherry Adams. It’s in response to the ongoing federal government shutdown and the loss of SNAP benefits to millions of recipients across the country.
As of May, it was estimated by UDSA that 57,000 North Dakotans were receiving the benefits.
