WILLOW LAKE, S.D. (KFGO/KWAT ) – A close call Wednesday morning for three people in a boat on Dry Lake #2 just north of the town of Willow Lake in Clark County, South Dakota.
.
They were out fishing when a fast-moving thunderstorm rolled in, capsizing the boat in powerful winds.
Multiple agencies responded, including Codington County Search and Rescue.
Clark County Emergency Manager David Lewis says a Clark police officer was also on the scene, launched a Game, Fish, and Parks Department boat, and assisted in getting the three people to shore.
He says the three anglers were still, “with the boat,” that had drifted halfway across the lake in the stormy conditions. Lewis says the three were met by an ambulance on shore to be checked out.
The rescue happened around 9:30 a.m.
