FARGO (KFGO) A Fargo man was sentenced Friday to 40 years in federal prison running a drug ring and selling drugs that killed a woman.
34-year-old Karmen Fox distributed fentanyl pills throughout North Dakota, including on the Spirit Lake and Fort Berthold Reservations.
Fox gave the pills to two others, Chasity Feather and Aiana Richotte, who drove the drugs from Fargo to Devils Lake. Richotte smoked a pill with a woman in Devils Lake. The woman went to her home on the Spirit Lake Reservation where she died.
Investigators found messages between Fox and another man, Scott Roberts, discussing the distribution and sale of thousands of fentanyl pills.
Fox was convicted by a jury in March for drug sale and possession, selling drugs that lead to death, money laundering, and possession of a firearm by a felon. After his release, he will have 20 years of supervised released.
Fox’s co-defendents pleaded guilty to various drug charges. Roberts was sentenced to 10 years in prison, and Richotte was sentenced to nearly 2.5 years. Another distributor, Kristin Carrington was sentenced to 3.5 years in prison, and Feather is awaiting sentencing.
The FBI, BIA, Lake Region Narcotics Task Force, North Dakota Crime Lab, Cass County Task Force, and ATF all investigated the case.
