RAPID CITY, S.D. (KFGO) — A former gymnastics coach in Rapid City has been indicted for charges of possession of child sex abuse materials.
25-year-old Hayden Sengua was indicted by a federal grand jury Thursday. He appeared in federal court Friday and pleaded not guilty.
Federal prosecutors say Sengua received and possessed more than 14,000 images and videos depicting child sexual abuse in two Google accounts and multiple electronic devices. The pictures and videos showed children as young as infants and toddlers being sexually abused, tortured, and engaging in sex acts with animals.
Sengua also allegedly possessed images and videos of children in the Rapid City area whom he may have coached. Prosecutors say those photos do not depict child sex abuse.
Sengua worked at Just Jymnastics in Rapid City until May 2024. He previously worked as a gymnastics coach in Oregon. He is scheduled to be back in court September 2.
