DENT, Minn. (KFGO KBRF) – A trash fire turned into a larger shop fire in rural Dent late Thursday night.
Otter Tail County Deputies responded to the home of Shirley and Robert Bush after Shirley Bush reported that the shop next to their home was on fire at about 10:45. The Dent, Vergas, and Pelican Rapids Fire Departments responded. Dent Rescue and Pelican Rapids Ambulance also responded to treat Shirley Bush for smoke inhalation before transporting her to a hospital.
The shop was a total loss along with two vehicles, a snowblower, and power tools. The home next to the shop was also damaged by smoke.
Robert Bush told deputies that he had been burning trash in a steel drum containing aerosol cans. He said the cans began to explode near the shop, setting it on fire.
A deputy state fire marshal is investigating.
