Cindy Schreiber-Beck (North Dakota Aeronautics Commission)
WAHPETON, N.D. (KFGO) – State Rep. Cindy Schreiber-Beck of Wahpeton died over the weekend.
Schreiber-Beck was a Republican who represented District 25 where she was first elected to the North Dakota House of Representatives in 2014. She was most recently re-elected in 2022.
Schreiber-Beck was a prominent member of the aviation community. She and her husband Gerry operated Tri-State Aviation in Wahpeton. Gerry died in 2007. Schreiber-Beck also served as executive director of the state Agriculture Aviation Association and was inducted into the North Dakota Aviation Hall of Fame this past March. She served on the state Aeronautics Commission from 1997 to 2022.
Democratic state Rep. Alisa Mitskog was a longtime friend of Schreiber-Beck.
“I am deeply saddened by the sudden loss of my legislative partner and dear friend,” Mitskog said in a statement to KFGO. “Cindy had a profound love for our community and worked tirelessly for D25 as well as the entire state. Her expertise in K–12, higher education, agriculture, and aeronautics was truly exceptional. North Dakota has lost a remarkable leader. My heartfelt sympathy goes out to Whitney and her family during this difficult time.
Gov. Kelly Armstrong said Schreiber-Beck served the citizens of North Dakota with a quiet strength and determination that touched many facets of life, from agriculture and aviation to education and community development.
“It was an honor to call her a friend,” Armstrong said. “She embodied what it means to be a public servant, a volunteer and someone who gives back to their community, their industry and their profession. Her care and compassion for our farmers, students and North Dakotans from every walk of life was evident in everything she did in the legislative chambers and the private sector, and her legacy endures in every classroom and at every airport across North Dakota. Kjersti and I extend our deepest condolences to her family, friends and legislative colleagues.”
While details for Schreiber-Beck’s funeral haven’t been announced, Armstrong has directed all U.S. and North Dakota flags to be flown at half-staff from dawn to dusk on the day of her interment. An updated flag advisory will be sent when funeral arrangements are announced.
Schreiber-Beck was 70.
