PEORIA, Ill. – Peoria Police have arrested a 16-year-old boy for first-degree murder in connection with a fatal shooting Monday night near Manual High School in South Peoria.
The teen was arrested around 4 p.m. Tuesday without incident at a Peoria home.
Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood earlier on Tuesday released the name of the victim, 34-year-old Michael Drummond of Peoria.
Harwood says Drummond suffered multiple gunshot wounds and likely died instantly, according to autopsy results.
PPD found Drummond in the area of W. Howett and W. Millman Streets after a ShotSpotter alert indicated 13 rounds were fired there.
After being interviewed at the Peoria Police Department, the 16-year-old suspect was taken to the Peoria County Juvenile Detention Center.
No further information about the juvenile will be released, unless the murder case is transferred to adult court.
