PEORIA, Ill. – The finish line is near for the completion of the Bob Michel Bridge rehabilitation project.
Illinois Department of Transportation spokesman Paul Wappel says there’s only a couple tasks left to do.
“There’s only two deck overlay sections that remain, and most of the new parapet walls been installed, and the new pavement on the Peoria side is nearing completion,” Wappel said. “So things are progressing very well.”
Wappel says all work is expected to be done by late-November to early-December.
The $24.6 million project began in March, and will have wider pedestrian and bike paths, along with new joints to extend the bridge’s lifespan.
